Minty Fresh

Dress: Vintage via My Sister's Closet
Belt: Thrifted via Goodwill
Shoes: Target

Not sure what compelled me to wear mint with caramel colored accessories, but I was pleasantly surprised. I felt like this outfit was lacking a little something special. It kind of felt too plain. Just like a donut that doesn't have a filling- it's just missing something. Am I right?

We can't win them all friends- outfits or donuts.

Thought I'd show a few pics of what I've been up to recently- it's been so busy that I haven't been able to take any outfit pics (or even breathe) but I have had my camera on my hip to capture some fun life moments.

My coworkers threw a wedding shower for me and Brett on Thursday. We had drinks and dinner on my friend Sue's back patio. We had so much fun that we stayed for 6 hours. Let's just say when there's drinks and friends, you gotta kick me out at the end of the night!

Then, my dear friend Sam and her mom, Jane came into town to find Sam a wedding dress- let's just say there were tears and the goal was accomplished. Sam looked like such a hottie in the dress she picked and we had a great weekend eating, shopping and catching up. Sam may literally be my oldest friend (not in age but longevity)- we've known each other since the 4th grade!

Thank you so much Sam and Jane for including me this weekend- I will never forget it!

I have a crazy busy week- my last day at my current job is on Wednesday and Brett and I leave for our bachelor/bachelorette parties (respectively) in Colorado on Thursday. I can't wait to see all my friends and have my last (single) hurrah! I already picked out a dress for the party that I'll borrow from my friend Kat but had to think hard about whether or not it will go with penis paraphernalia :)

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Salute Your Shorts

Jacket: Gift
Dress: Anthropologie
Bracelet: Love Culture
Shoes: Marshall's

Military buttons could be my favorite type of button (I know, don't get too excited). Something about things in rows and columns are very appealing, no?

And if there is anything that could make me love a punchy floral dress more than I already do, it's definitely adding military buttons to the mix. That and Oktoberfest beer on a Saturday in fall actually there are many things that could make me love a punchy floral dress more. And can you tell that someone is jonesing for fall?!

One More for the Road

Dress: Tucker for Target
Necklace: Gift
Bag: Thrifted via Goodwill
Sandals: Picnic Wedge c/o Wanted Shoes

I couldn't help but fit in one more outfit photo sesh this weekend- managed to convince Brett to snap some pics of me after grabbing some Mexican food in the neighborhood with my mom. And if there's anything I love it's Mexican food, family and taking pictures of my clothes. You know, nothing out of the ordinary or anything.

A Family Affair

Tee: Gift
Necklace: F21
Skirt: Vintage via My Sister's Closet
Shoes: Target
Purse: Thrifted

My mom was in town this weekend helping me do wedding stuff (thanks mom!). It's less than 2 months until the big day, which means that I become exponentially more overwhelmed and stressed. Just ask Brett about my 11 pm invitation-sealing breakdown from last week. Let's just say it's not a memory either of us want to relive.

Thanks mom for coming- it means so much to me and your help is so appreciated!

Falling Hard

Tee: H&M
Dress: Target
Necklace: F21
Shoes: Marshall's

Not too much to say about this outfit other than, I can't wait for fall! The temps are dipping a little lower (read: 75 degrees) here and my spidey senses are tingling! As you'll see, I couldn't help myself from wearing long sleeves in preparation!

Things I can't wait for: pumpkin everything, tights, boots, that fall smell that is sooo good. Oh, and my wedding.

Just Warming Up

Hat: Goorin Brothers via BlackBlue
Tee: Gap
Necklace: Self Made
Skirt: Thrifted via Goodwill
Sandals: Target
Bag: Thrifted via Goodwill

I hadn't figured out a way that I wanted to wear this skirt- until Sunday that was. Turns out all it takes to make an outfit with this skirt is to add extraordinarily hot weather and casual accessories.

And can we talk about the pattern for a second? There is absolutely nothing I don't love about the following things: cafes, flower shops, the Eiffel tower and park benches, especially when they are on my lower half. Who couldn't love a French theme printed skirt in USA colors? Not this gal!

Side Swept

Dress: Vintage via My Sister's Closet
Necklace: F21
Sandals: Picnic Sandals c/o Wanted Shoes (on sale now!)

Wow- it's been a hot minute since I blogged. Oops! It was a busy week and I capped it off with a trip to Detroit Lakes to visit my friend Natalie. It was a great week and then weekend but I'm determined to get back into regular blogging.

I took these pictures on Wednesday and here's something I want to tangent on for a second- do any of you use the Spin Pin? I had seen several commercials for this new hair product, so I picked 2 up at Target (they were $7 or so for the two). I could not love my Spin Pins more! They say that one Spin Pin does the work of 20 bobby pins. I can't confirm or deny, but let's just say that the 'do I'm rockin' in these pics took two Spin Pins (aka 40 bobby pins).

Spin Pin- I don't know how you do your voodoo magic on my hair, but I love it.

Canary in a Coal Mine

Necklace: F21
Top: Thrifted via Goodwill
Skirt: Boutique in Stillwater
Shoes: Old Navy

The last several times I wore these shoes, I almost broke my neck. There was the one time that I literally fell down the stairs at work (only two witnesses but bruised confidence) and there was the time I feel over in the kitchen at work after rolling my ankle in them (no witnesses, swollen ankle like a grapefruit).

Not sure what the cause is but I affectionately refer to them as my "neckbreaker" wedges. I was determined to wear them without incident and I did! Go me in my dangerous wedges!

I Mean Business

Necklace: Patina
Top: Anthropologie
Skirt: Gap
Shoes: Target

Not sure why, but I felt the need to dress really "business-y" today. It was a strategic thing- I wanted Monday to know that I take no prisoners. Not sure if my patterned top got the point across, but Monday let me of pretty easy opposed to the usual.

I tried this crazy thing this week on my wardrobe called "planning" (have you heard of this!?). I spend 10 minutes looking at my clean clothes and decided (loosely) what I would wear for the week. I should be a genius. Someone should have thought of this before!

Weekend Life

Hope you all had a great weekend! We had big plans to camp at Taylors Falls- but the weather had other plans. Brett and I managed to stay busy- half wedding planning and half just plain fun.

On Friday night, we spent time getting the envelopes addressed for our wedding invites- I cannot tell you how much help my friend Kristi and her husband Colin were. They hosted us at their place and Kristi (with her fancy handwriting) did the addressing. We had a pretty big operation going on.

Saturday morning- we hit the Farmer's Market. What are your thoughts on Sunflowers? I think most people either love or hate them. Brett really likes them but I can't help but think of the 90's when I see them.

This photo both makes me laugh and terrifies me.

Since we didn't go camping, we got some geocaching in. I would show you more photos, but they all look the same (i.e. me holding the cache that I found).

Then on Sunday, Grand Avenue hosts Paws on Grand where people can walk their dogs around and judge other people's subpar dogs (or was that just me). My dog drank beer, ate pretzels and slimed as many people (and small children) as he could. Photo evidence below.

Lastly, I've become annoyingly addicted to Instagram. You can follow me if you want- my handle is mmshehan. I can't promise that I won't post only pics of things I eat, things I drink and things my dog eats and drinks. Sorry in advance.

Happy Monday!
