Girly Girl

Scarf: Vintage Vera
Sweater: Target
Dress: Isaac Mizrahi for Target
Belt: Thrifted at Goodwill
Boots: Steve Madden via Macy's

OK, note to self: the bow and dress and color may be a bit over-the-top girly, but heck, who cares?

My hair has been doing it's own thing and it just kind of came together. Things happen like this sometimes: I wasn't sure which direction this would go and it just so happened to work out that I looked like a 50's house wife who also made a vow to only wear primary colors.

Whaddya gonna do?!

Cabin Fever

Scarf: Vintage Vera
Shirt: Proenza Schuler for Target
Pants: Gap
Boots: Steve Madden via Macy's

I wore this on Sunday to church and running errands- I just needed something simple to get things done! And forgive my messy hair, I let it take a day off :)

We all need one of those every now and again- hair and clothes included.

Polar Opposites

Here's a funny thing- I am about to show you in one fell swoop the worst blog picture I have ever posted along with some of the best.

On Friday night, I came home to realize that I had not taken any blog pictures and in an effort to stay accountable to the 30 for 30, I needed to show you what I wore. See Exhibit A below:

Hat: Gap
Sweatshirt: Thrifted Urban Outfitters
Top: Target
Jeans: Target
Necklace: Self Made
Boots: Steve Madden via Macy's

And now, I will show you the photos my friend Kristi took with her fancy camera. Exhibit B:

Coat: Target
Hat: The North Face
Boots: Hunter
Jeans: Target

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! I'm spending mine drinking bloody marys with my friends, eating Nepalese food and doing some wedding crafts.

Until next time...

Optical Illusion

Dress (worn as shirt): Thrifted via Goodwill
Skirt: Gap
Tights: Forever 21
Shoes: Old Navy

I pulled a little trick on this dress...I wore it as a shirt! Mainly, I was running out of clean clothes and this little trick saved me from cheating on the 30 for 30!

All it took was a "new" shirt to make me feel like a whole new woman! And I only have a few days left before I'm able to wear anything I want!

And since I completed my polka dot dress tonight in sewing class, that is definitely on the books for the future. It's not exactly a looker, but here's the deal about sewing your own clothes- by the time you are done, you are so proud of the work it took that you don't care what it looks like and you can't wait to wear it. So I can't wait to wear my dress!

Just My Style

Scarf: Target
Tee: Target
Skirt: Consigned Go International for Target
Tights: HUE
Boots: Vintage via eBay

This outfit felt so "me"! I like it was just my style, the perfect mix of patterns, color and classic silhouettes. It was the first time in this 30 for 30 that I felt like I hit my stride!

I really want to finish off the 30 for 30 strong and I might have just gotten the encouragement I needed to do it.

How is everyone else doing on the challenge? Are you feeling the stress or hitting your stride? I'd love to hear! I can't wait to be done...I have some cute imaginary outfits waiting in the wings to jump on me as soon as I hit day 30. Those outfits- always jumping around trying to get on me...they never can take a hint.

With an Attitude to Match

Blazer: Gap
Top: Anthropologie
Pants: Gap
Heels: Aldo
Necklace: Patina

How crazy is this outfit?! Never thought I would end up pairing cords, heels, a blazer and a silk top. It matched my attitude yesterday as well (out of control, a little wiley and debatably not something that needs to happen again).

Oh well, it's the very few things I had in my closet that were clean and remotely went together.

I felt much more "me" in the outfit I wore today, which I'll post for tomorrow morning, so check back soon!

30 for 30 Winter Edition Week Three Round Up

Three weeks down and one(ish) to go in my 30 for 30 and I could not be more excited. I have to say, while my first 30 for 30 made me feel confident about blogging, dressing and remixing, this version has made me feel the exact opposite. I feel like my outfits are lack luster, my photos are subpar and my attitude is piss poor.

Anyone have any great advice for getting through the next nine days?! I could use some moral support over here. This is me raising my hand asking for blog help and a solid attitude adjustment.

If you are participating, how are you doing and why do you look great, while I look like I just ran a marathon after eating a jar full of jelly beans (aka like crap)? Tell me your secrets!

Snowing Cats and (My) Dog

Sweater: Target
Top: J. Crew
Jeans: Target
Boots: Steve Madden via Macy's
Necklace: Anthropologie

Update from yesterday: It has now been snowing for approximately 36 hours and doesn't show any signs of slowing. I got home from work and talked Brett into snapping a few pics of me simultaneously during a dog walk- I'm so sneaky like that.

I'm not sure if it will stop snowing in the near future or not, but all I know is that I am doing just fine sitting on the couch, watching some trashy TV with a certain boy and dog keeping me company. That's the great thing about snow storms, they make you so excited to live the most boring life and the most mundane acitivites seem so special. And as much as I hate snow, I can't argue with that too much.

Snow Day and Night

Top: Gap
Jeans: Vintage Flare, Gap
Socks: Gap

To be honest, it snowed here for about 12 hours on Sunday and I was hunkered down for a good chunk of them.

I wore this outfit (all Gap oddly enough) to kick around my house, make chicken noodle soup and follow up on some emails (and no, I'm not wearing any makeup, sorry folks). Hope everyone had a great weekend!

A Splash of Sunshine

Trench: Old Navy
Dress: Tucker for Target
Boots: Hunter

Bare legs? Really? Well, yes...with reservations. I wore this momentarily as the temperatures dropped, so did my courage to have bare legs.

And today, 24 hours later, it has snowed 10 inches. So my world is turned upside down and my legs go back into hiding. As it should be for February in Minnesota...and I feel foolish for thinking otherwise. Another month, Maggie, another month.

A Hard Day's Night

Sweater: Target
Dress: Thrifted via Goodwill
Belt: J. Crew Outlet
Tights: J. Crew Outlet
Boots: Steve Madden via Macy's

Man, yesterday was such a long day! It took all the energy I had to take these pictures, change into my pajamas and watch Dazed and Confused before hitting the hay.

Enjoy your weekend!

Back on Track

Sweatshirt: Thrifted Urban Outfitters
Top: Anthropologie
Pants: Gap
Boots: Steve Madden via Macy's

I wore this outfit on Thursday- not sure how I landed on these items (or if it was a good idea or not) but I just went for it.

I also wore this to sewing class where I am truly about 40 minutes away from completing my very first garment. I tried to rush and finish it that night but the more I rushed, the more seams I it goes I've heard. I will make sure I post my final garment (since it doesn't look half bad and I won't be half embarrassed) on the blog for all to see.

Next up on the blog will be my outfit yesterday (Friday). I'm so ready to be done with the 30 for 30! I got $100 yesterday (long story), and I can't wait to buy something fun with it!

In the Halls

Blazer: Gap
Tank: Target
Necklace: Patina
Tights: Unknown
Heels" Old Navy
Skirt: Go International for Target

What a long day it was today! I took these at approximately 10 pm in the hallway of my apartment. I know, you are so jealous of my glamorous life, right?? That's what I thought.

I did cheat a little at the 30 for 30, but I think it's all within good reason. I wore this blank tank because my black tee was dirty. I think that's acceptable- sorry if that pisses you off.

Have a great Thursday- we're so close to the weekend and I have sewing class tonight!

30 for 30 Winter Edition Week Two Round Up

Well....this isn't exactly my best showing. Sorry, friends. I think things got a little out of control, especially around day 12. It's like I just took all my clean items and put them all on at once, much to everyone's chagrin. Smart people don't dress like this- don't let the glasses fool you.

I'm going to try and do better this week and apply myself. I thought that the 30 for 30 would make my getting ready routine easier like it did the first time, instead I am just disappointed in my results. I'm half way done though! And that's what's getting me through it. That and several pairs of spring shoes and a new dress.

To The Ground

Scarf: Gift
Tee: Target
Belt: Gap
Skirt: Vintage
Shoes: Nordstrom

Not too much to say today- just wanted to drop in and say hello. It was a busy day and I'm doing all I can to not drop to the ground as we speak (just like my skirt)!

Take care of yourselves today, friends and check back tomorrow.

Valentine's Day

Tee: Target
Sweater: Target
Necklace: Anthropologie
Belt: Thrifted via Goodwill
Skirt: Gap
Tights: Forever 21
Boots: Vintage via eBay

I decided why not layer on the cheese on Valentine's Day and wear red and pink? I usually think those two colors look so heinous together, but I thought, if I don't do it today I will never do it! I'm not sure why I needed to do it at all, but anyways.... I felt festive and still professional, which is more than I can say most days.

I came home so that Brett and I could exchange gifts. He cut out the cutest heart from felt for my card.

Then he got me the best Adam Turman print (one of my favorite MN print makers). I love Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox- I always joke around about Brett being Paul Bunyan and me being Babe the Blue Ox.

He then surprised me even more by getting us both bowling shoes! I cannot tell you how long I've wanted them, but I don't think I have ever told anyone that I did. I can't wait to break these bad boys in!

Here's what I got Brett for Valentine's Day (we were on the same train of thought and both got prints). I thought the typewriter on the card looked just like Brett :)

After exchanging gifts, we went to Red Stag Supperclub in Northeast Minneapolis for bison stroganoff, live music and local beers- it was a blast! Hope you all had a lovely Valentine's Day and that you felt totally blessed- I know I did!
